Minutes from the NHATA State Meeting Jan. 8, 2005

 

Meeting was called to order by Peter Thurber, in attendance was Neil Duval, Danielle Miller and Barbara Sibun arriving late along with 18 state members.

 

Peter Thurber’s term as president has ended and thanked everyone for a good two years and turned his position over to Neil Duval who had been the president elect.

·        Explanation of the NHATA web site and asking for suggestions or comments about things members would like to see        

 

I.   Treasurer’s report:  As of the last statement we have $17205.59 in savings, $1226.78 in checking and $365 in dues

 

II.   Secretary’s Report: N/A last meeting was to be at Tri-State in May 04 which was cancelled

 

III.               Committee Updates

A.     Licensure- Bob Merrow spoke, Jan. 27th an open public hearing in Concord, NH for rules, 100,200,300 all the same for allied health, rules to come 400 rules which is our scope of practice and penalties for ATC’S and 500 are the ethics codes. 

1. State Practice act- we have a good one, one glitch if you live in NH and practice out of state when you travel with your team into NH you are in violation, looking into changing this.

2.  Bill Pending in 2005 Rep. John Hunt to create uniformity of penalties within all allied health

3. License renewal coming up standard form being used 

4. BOC is holding another meeting and would like 2   people from each state to attend

                                   

B.     Student Committee- Scholarship awards are completed

 

C.     Ballot & Nomination- Many open chairs looking for nominations Jan. 31st for Pres. Elect, Treasurer and many of the committee spots. 

 

1.      Proposed a student member from each program institution to attend executive board meetings and report back to their perspective school.  All were in favor of this idea.

 

D.     Education- Student symposium for the state, possible March date    would like to complete one by the end of the academic year.  ME will no longer participate in Tri- State.

 

E.      Reimbursement- N/A

 

F.      Awards- Discussion about the NH Athletic Trainer of the year award, suggest changing the name to Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer.

 

IV.              Web Page- Peter Thurber is our web master; please send him any information or ideas for the site.  www.nhata.org.

 

V.                 Old Business- N/A

 

New Business

 

I.                    Dues Increase- District 1 will be $10.00 if you renew online and   $15.OO by mail.  NATA dues will increase in the same increments total increase will  be $20.00 if you renew online or $30.00 by mail

II.                 Tri- State May 13 – 14th in VT.  Mark your calendars now

III.               March NATA month- let us know of anything you are doing to promote athletic training and the board will try to help, suggestions for a traveling information board like other organizations

IV.              Recognition of Joe Altott- 50 years of athletic training

V.                 Re-cap of vacancies asking people to think about the positions

VI.              Raffle- books were given away to ATC’S in attendance
